The teaching of Spanish at Gledhow provides excitement, enjoyment and challenge for pupils, helping to create enthusiastic learners and to develop positive attitudes to language learning through life. Our lessons will be conducted in part by Irene, our native language specialist teacher within the Primary Languages Network scheme. Our Spanish curriculum, across Key Stage 2, is designed to progressively develop grammar and vocabulary acquisition. Pupils are encouraged and supported to develop their speaking and listening skills through conversational work, singing activities and games. As confidence and skill grows, pupils record their work through pictures, captions and sentences because they will have learnt the cornerstones of phonics and grammar to enable them to build their own sentences, making them effective communicators.
