School Meals Provision

Our Gledhow school kitchen serves fresh meals prepared daily by the “Catering Leeds” team (Leeds City Council). Our menus offer high-quality balanced main meals and desserts. A vegetarian main meal option is offered, and fruit is available with all meals.

We encourage families to choose their school meal options in advance. We use ParentPay to order and pay for lunches. Menus are available at the beginning of term, we suggest booking in advance each half term to ensure your child is given their preferred meal option. We can guarantee lunch choices up to one week in advance, any alterations made later than this may be subject to availability.

  • Packed Lunch

You can opt to provide a packed lunch instead of a school meal for your child. We promote healthy packed lunchesand ask that you try to provide a nutritious and balanced lunch that includes:

    • A portion of fruit
    • At least one portion of vegetables
    • A portion of protein
    • At least one portion of starchy food (e.g. bread pasta)

You can let us know which days your child is having a home packed lunch by using our ParentPay lunch system. You can also opt to have both packed lunches and school meals as long as you have chosen your preferred option at least one week in advance.

Please pack your child's lunch in a wipeable box and advise them not to share.

We are a nut-free school. We kindly ask that you do not include any type of nuts or nut-based products, such as cereal bars or sandwich fillings, in your child's lunch.

We use ParentPay an online system to choose lunch options and to collect payment. Dinner money is payable in advance.

If you are new to Gledhow Primary School you will be provided with a ParentPay activation letter within your first week at school. You will need to use this to create your Parent Pay account.

How to book a meal on ParentPay

We ask that all menu options (dietary preferences, school dinner, home packed lunch) are chosen via ParentPay at least one week in advance.

From September 2025, where a meal selection has not been made at the start of the day an allergy appropriate vegetarian meal will be ordered for your child. This ensures our kitchen has the right amount of food available to deliver all children’s preferred menu options andreduces wastage.

To avoid disappointment please ensure you are using ParentPay to let us know your child’s lunch preference at least 1 week in advance. Menu options are available at the beginning of each term.
