Welcome to Gledhow's E-Safety Page

Although the Internet can be useful for information and communication, there are online dangers. At Gledhow, we have clear guidelines to protect our children. As a parent, if you need advice, visit the recommended websites or contact our Learning Mentors, Mr Wood or Mrs Burrough, for online safety concerns.

E-Safety at Gledhow

At Gledhow Primary School, E-Safety is a vital part of the computing curriculum. Our approach is structured, with children advancing through CEOP to gain E-Safety badges. KS1 focuses on watching videos safely and being able to seek help, while KS2 lessons cover being SMART online, digital footprints, online gaming safety, sharing pictures and being a positive bystander. Children use E-Safety books and E-books to develop critical thinking and showcase their learning by creating posters and scenarios. We also promote Safer Internet Day with assemblies and age-appropriate non-fiction books.

Useful links

The internet is crucial for kids to learn, connect with friends, and express themselves. However, as a parent, it's natural to feel overwhelmed by the range of technology available and the potential risks, like cyberbullying and exposure to inappropriate content. To promote online safety, consider asking your child who they would talk to if they feel worried, and discussing acceptable online behaviour and what types of content should be shared. Additionally, explore the websites your child enjoys and what they like to do on them.
