PE Funding

Gledhow Primary School School creates a new ambition for EVERY child

Gledhow Primary School is partnering with PE and Sport Specialists Create Development to spearhead PE initiative.

We're leading the way in creating a new ambition for every child by promoting physical activity and changing perceptions of PE.

Our mission goes beyond getting children active to ensuring a lifelong healthy relationship with physical activity. We're achieving this by bringing schools, homes, and communities together to create cultural change.

Our journey began with real PE training for all teachers in September 2019, and we're now extending support to families and the wider school community. With training, support, and resources from Create Development and Active Schools Consultants, we're taking a holistic approach to developing children's physical, personal, social, and emotional skills. This personalised, two-year program will create a legacy for every child. We're one of only 150 schools nationally to access the real legacy pilot.

Government PE Funding

At Gledhow, physical activity and sport are important to children, staff, and parents. We aim to provide opportunities for competition at both intra and inter levels. Our 30:30 initiative, started in 2018, offers 30 minutes of daily exercise through active lessons, structured play, dinner times, and extracurricular activities. The Sport Premium grant provides essential funding for specialist teaching, high-quality equipment, transportation, and increased physical activity levels.

Sports' Resources

Though we have always invested heavily in our PE provision, the additional PE Funding has allowed us to ensure that more sports and activities are fully resourced.

We have been able to purchase goalposts for our competitive representative football matches. Lunchtime games equipment was purchased to allow for a wider range of outdoor games. PE equipment for lessons and Sports Day was also enhanced which is also used in our many after school clubs.

Specialist SEN play items have been purchased and playground markings were added to our outdoor areas to enable more effective team games provision to be made for children.
