Welcome to Gledhow Primary School

We are a large three form entry primary situated in north Leeds, a short walk from Roundhay park.

At Gledhow we strive to make the ordinary extraordinary. We take the everyday experiences our pupils have and we transform them into extraordinary opportunities for learning, growth and personal development.

In the classroom, our staff ensure the curriculum choices they make are ambitious and provide opportunities for adventure in all subjects as second nature, supporting all pupils to achieve their personal bests. By delivering knowledge in the most ambitious and memorable way we can, we support our pupils to develop a lifelong love for learning. Our curriculum is rich, balanced and ambitious and we ensure every child can reach their potential regardless of any barriers they may face. We have a culture of inclusivity and equity where every member of our school community belongs, is valued and is heard and where our curriculum is enriched by our diversity.

As well as supporting our pupils to learn and remember more, we have a culture of learning for everyone, where every staff member can learn, develop in their career, and be professionally fulfilled. Our programme of professional development ensures there is a great teacher in every classroom.

We also enhance the experience of our pupils outside of the classroom with opportunities that go beyond the academic. Adventure is our way of life and through offering pupils additional experiences, we support them to develop resilience. Our children are fearless and they explore the world around them with intrigue, finding enjoyment through discovery. Our enhanced adventures best prepare them to be responsible citizens for their individual and collective futures. We make links within our community and beyond, working in partnerships of best practice to strengthen our school for the future.

Our school is a happy and safe place for everyone to be. Attendance of all pupils is high and all stakeholders understand the value of being in school. Our children demonstrate high standards of conduct and learning behaviour. We have a strong embedded culture of effective safeguarding where every member of the school community is empowered to fulfil their statutory and moral responsibilities. Resilience is prioritised in order to maximise the well-being and mental health of pupils and staff.

By committing to and delivering our vision, we believe every one of our wonderful pupils can succeed when they are given the knowledge and experiences of an education that goes beyond ordinary.
